LA Metro Card – Women’s History Month

Public transport & Women’s History Month are a dream combo so this job was a great one to work on. I don’t normally show my sketches but I had so much fun with these I thought I’d show the process a bit. I was really rooting for all of them. I knew I didn’t want to do a classic women in power pose drawing (no shade to power posing women) but wanted it to have a more dreamy and intimate quality and show the community aspect of womanhood, like a small glimpse into their world as opposed to a confrontational image that can sometimes feel like a response to a male dominated world. Why not just leave men out of it it completely!? Truly the guiding light of my entire body of work. In any case I’m really pleased with how it turned out and only wish I could have taken a ride on the LA Metro to try it out myself.
